Epsilon-12G2 14-Port
Gigabit Ethernet Switch

COM Express

Epsilon-12G2 is a managed Layer 2+ Ethernet switch module offering twelve 10/100/1000Mbps copper twisted pair ports and two small form factor pluggable (SFP) sockets in the compact COM Express form factor. Epsilon-12G2 is designed for rugged applications including industrial, on-vehicle and military.
Epsilon-12G2 is a standalone switch that does not require any host computer interface. All switch functions are managed by a 480MHz MIPS processor embedded directly into the switch. The processor is accessed via an in-band web interface over one of the Ethernet ports or via an out-of-band command-line interface over an RS-232 serial port. The integrated web interface provides an intuitive GUI for use in configuring and managing all switch functionality. On-board memory holds dual application images, boot code, MAC addresses, and other parameters, and can also be used for program execution.
Epsilon-12G2 includes a dual SFP socket for interfacing to 1G fiber Ethernet networks. One port can operate at enhanced 2.5G speed to support efficient stacking of two switches together for a combined total of 26 ports.
Epsilon-12G2’s advanced Ethernet switch board includes two innovative features that enable automatic power savings. The switch can detect unused Ethernet ports on network devices and power them down or place them in stand-by mode. Additionally, the switch actively adjusts the power level needed based on cable length, saving energy on links shorter than the 100m maximum specified length.
Input power is provided through the built-in, wide-range +5 to +40VDC power supply, enabling operation using industrial power sources.
Epsilon-12G2 was designed for use in vehicle and harsh environment applications. All I/O connectors are latching, providing enhanced reliability over the RJ-45 connectors used in commercial Ethernet switches. A 50% thicker PCB provides better protection against vibration in vehicle environments. The wide range 5-40V input power supply is compatible with all common vehicle and industrial power sources. The -40ºC to +85ºC operating range makes Epsilon-12G2 suitable for use in outdoor and vehicle applications.
Epsilon-12G2 comes loaded with all required firmware, enabling its immediate operation without any development effort. The included web interface provides an intuitive GUI for use in configuring and managing switch functionality.

The switch implements all features of the EPSM-10GX, including 24 10/100/1000Mbps copper ports and 2 10Gbps SFI ports accessed via SFP+ sockets. The EPS-24G2X is designed in the industry-standard “3.5 inch” form factor. The standard cooling method is via a low-profile heat sink.
The standard Layer 2+ software embedded in the module provides a comprehensive set of Ethernet switch features suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. All features are manageable via a GUI web interface accessible over any port, as well as with a command language accessed via a built-in RS-232 port. A more advanced software package offering Layer 3 routing performance, as well as IEEE1588 PTP protocol and 1PPS I/O signals, is available upon request. These features are fully supported in the EPSM-10GX hardware and EPS-24G2X product.
EPS-24G2X is designed to meet the challenges of vehicle environments with its -40/+80°C operating temperature range and its MIL-STD-202G shock/vibration resistance. Latching connectors are used for all I/O for superior resistance to shock and vibration over the traditional low-cost RJ-45 style connectors. The 50% thicker PCB also aids in resistance to vibration. A wide-range input power supply with built-in transient protection provides compatibility with a range of industrial and vehicle power supplies.

EPSM-10GX Ultra-Compact Managed 26-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch Module
COM Express

The EPSM-10GX is a managed Layer 2+ Ethernet switch module in an ultra-compact 2.2″ x 3.3″ (55 x 84mm) size offering 24 10/100/1000Mbps copper ports + 2 10Gbps SFI ports. The module is intended to be used on a carrier board. The core Ethernet switching technology is almost fully encapsulated on the module; for many applications, only the “last inch” of magnetics and I/O connectors is required to complete the circuit, enabling easy development of custom form factor Ethernet switch solutions.
The small size, based on the industry-standard COM Express Mini form factor, makes EPSM-10GX a perfect choice for use as a building block for creating custom Ethernet switch solutions in a variety of space-demanding applications, such as drones, ground and underwater vehicles, and robots. EPSM-10GX can also be mounted on a carrier board to create quick Ethernet switching solutions in other industry standard form factors such as VPX. Customers looking for a complete off-the-shelf solution may be interested in our EPS-24G2X, which provides all of the switch’s features in the industry standard 3.5 inch form factor.
The standard Layer 2 software embedded in the module provides a comprehensive set of Ethernet switch features suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Mercator II LAN & DIO Module
PC/104-Plus

The Mercator II PC/104-Plus module integrates 4 PCI-based 10/100 Ethernet ports with 24 user-configurable digital I/O lines in the compact and rugged PC/104 format. This 2-in-1 combination of Ethernet and digital I/O can help lower the size and cost of your embedded system by eliminating one additional board from your PC/104 stack.
The Ethernet ports are driven by two dual Micrel KSZ8842 Mac + Phy PCI controller chips, two ports per chip, and are NE2000 compatible. Each chip has a unique MAC address; therefore, only two Ethernet ports are visible to the end user for active communication. The other two ports work in switch fashion to enable daisy chaining of networks with one port on the chip as an uplink to a network while the other port provides active communication on the network.
The 24 digital I/O lines are based on an 82C55 chip and feature programmable direction in 4- and 8-bit groups. All I/O lines contain user-configurable 10K ohm pull-up resistors for convenience.
Extended temperature capability (-40ºC to +85ºC) enables the board to operate in environments with extreme temperature swings, such as vehicles or outdoor installations. In addition, the board may be custom-configured with 0-ohm resistors in place of jumper blocks for increased ruggedness in high-vibration environments.
Diamond Systems offers appropriate mating cables for your convenience. Cable number C-PRZ-02 provides a panel-mountable RJ-45 connector for the Ethernet, and cable number C-26-18 is a 26-conductor ribbon cable for the digital I/O.
